FAQ: Anonymous Bidding?

Question:  Can an auction be configured to hide patron names, so that other bidders cannot see them?

Answer:  Yes, while the default is to show names on the leaderboards and bidding history, an administrator can choose to hide names from view.  Names and contact information remain visible on invoices, reports and downloads for administrative purposes.  The option is chosen within Auction dashboard >> left-side menu >> Settings >> General Auction Settings.  Check or uncheck the tickbox as needed.

Commentary: Our experience is that while anonymity makes some bidders more comfortable, others find it off-putting and are less likely to bid, or honour their bids, if they don't feel the process is transparent.  When names are displayed, friendly competition can result in more bids.
