FAQ: Assigning an SMS Number and keyword to an Auction

Question:  Where do I find the SMS phone number that guests text to register for my auction?

Answer:  The number is found on your dashboard within the AUCTION LOGIN section.  If no number is displayed, MobilBid Support has not yet assigned one.  As a general rule a number is not assigned until you confirm with Support@MobilBid.ca that you are indeed going to use MobilBid for your in-person event.  Once we have the confirmation we'll acquire a number and assign it to your auction - no extra charge!

Note #1: We recommend using the phone number method of registration for in-person events only. The URL/QR code registration method is best whenever you have an online-only or hybrid event (combination of online and in-person.)

Note #2: You don't have to have an assigned phone number. If you share the URL (or even generate a QR code from the URL) your guests will have the option of entering their cell number or email to access the auction from the initial page.

Note #3: By default we do not assign phone numbers, but you can request one by emailing support@mobilbid.ca.

Note #4:  Since it is the unique phone number that is linked to your auction, you can choose any keyword or phrase that your guests text to the number - you do have to have a word, a blank message won't work.
