FAQ: What is an "Organization"?

Question:  What is the difference between an Auction and an Organization within MobilBid?

Answer:

MobilBid has three levels of information:

1. Account
2. Organization
3. Auction

Your account is the umbrella container for your charity or company - all organizations and auctions exist within your account.  Some settings (such as connecting Stripe.com) are done at the account level.

An account can have multiple organizations.  They are used to keep different types of events separate (e.g. use one organization for a golf tournament, and a separate organization for the annual gala - then the settings and patrons never get mixed up.)  Some settings are done at the organization level, such as choosing the colour theme.)

Each organization can have multiple auctions - but can run only one at a time.  Most of the work is done on a specific auction (e.g. auction items, auction logo, invoice configuration, messaging settings, auto-run schedule, etc.)

In many cases, a charity will only have one organization, and one auction in that organization - it seems redundant, but down the road it pays off for you.
