Instructions: How to place a Proxy Bid on behalf of a Patron

Overview:  Should a patron not have a phone, or not able to register or bid from their phone, an auction administrator can place bids on their behalf.  The best option is to place proxy bids (also known as a max bid or an auto bid.)

Notes:  Only an administrator who is logged into the MobilBid admin page can do this.  The auction must be in running mode - this does not work in preview or postview mode.  This also assumes you have proxy bidding enabled for your auction.

Instructions (see screenshots):

  1. Ask the patron what is the maximum amount they are prepared to pay, for the item they wish to bid on.
  2. Get the contact information for the patron (generally name and an email address.)
  3. Get the credit card information, in case they are the winning bidder.
  4. From the auction dashboard >> left-side menu >> Patrons
  5. Locate the patron in question, or more likely add them as a new patron.
  6. Bring up their patron profile on the screen >> use the VIEW CURRENT ORDER button (within ACTIONS section), which will present you with a list the patrons winning items (or nothing, if they are not a winning bidder.)
  7. Press the ADD TO ORDER button to see a list of all auction items.
  8. Select the desired item by pressing the PLACE BID button and enter the item detail screen (looks similar to the patron bidding screen seen on patron phones.)
  9. Press the SET AUTO-BID button, enter the desired amount and confirm.
