FAQ: Credit Card Security
Question: What do I say when patrons ask how secure their credit cards are within the MobilBid platform?
Answer: MobilBid takes credit card security extremely seriously. It was designed from the ground up to ensure patron information, especially their payment details, are never at risk. MobilBid recommends each client (e.g. each charity or organization, not each patron) obtain their own Stripe merchant account, as this means no credit card information is ever held on the MobilBid servers. Each patron's card is placed on the Stripe Level 1 PCI DSS-compliant servers, and "tokenized" - meaning MobilBid only has a reference token that is used to submit payments through Stripe. Even our clients, through their MobilBid auction dashboard or their Stripe account dashboard, can only see masked information. In addition, patrons can manage their credit card information from their phones by deleting their card profile or replacing it with a new card that is tokenized with Stripe. Our clients can choose to delete card details using the tools within the MobilBid dashboard, or from within the Stripe dashboard. Clients can sever the connection between MobilBid and Stripe at any time.
Stripe does card processing for millions of companies, including Uber, Google and Amazon. Card details never actually touch the MobilBid server.
