FAQ: What is better to distribute for guests to regsiter - the phone number or the website URL?
Question: What is the best way for guests to register for a MobilBid auction?
Answer: There are two options:
- The recommended option for in-person events is to distribute/publish the designated local phone number to your guests, and have them text to the number, receive back a link and follow the instructions. The local number will be displayed on your auction dashboard. If it isn't there, let MobilBid Support know that you are indeed running an in-person auction, and one will be assigned. Local phone numbers are not assigned automatically, you must confirm you will be using MobilBid for your auction - one will be assigned at no extra charge.
- The recommended option for online-only or hybrid (online and in-person) eventsis to provide a website address (a URL.) Guests can click the URL and register. The auction URL is displayed on your auction dashboard in the AUCTION LOGIN section. You can generate a QR code (see below) from this URL. The URL method will allow guests to enter an email OR a cell number, so is the most flexible.
Note: We highly recommend that you do NOT publish both methods to your guests - only share the phone number method OR the URL method - otherwise some guests will get confused should they set up two accounts (one based on their phone number, the other based on their email address...)
QR Codes: While MobilBid does not generate QR codes, there are many free QR code generators available (Google "free QR code generator" - we've had success with https://www.qrcode-monkey.com/) - just cut and paste the URL from your auction dashboard - the URL found in the AUCTION LOGIN section.)
