FAQ: What is better to distribute for guests to regsiter - the phone number or the website URL?

Question:  What is the best way for guests to register for a MobilBid auction?

Answer:  There are two options:

  1. The easiest and recommended option is to distribute/publish the designated local phone number to your guests, and have them text to the number, receive back a link and follow the instructions.  The local number will be displayed on your auction dashboard.  If it isn't there, let MobilBid Support know that you are indeed running an auction, and one will be assigned.  Local phone numbers are not assigned automatically, you must confirm you will be using MobilBid for your auction - one will be assigned at no extra charge.
  2. The second option is to provide a website address, where they can click the URL and register.  In practice, the text-to method is better, as the auction is designed for use on a phone and not optimized for a computer.  While email can be used for out-bid alerts and other notifications, it is not as adept at helping patrons get back into the auction should they get logged out.  The auction URL is displayed on the auction dashboard. You can generate a QR code from this URL. The URL will allow guests to enter an email OR a cell number.
